Frequently asked questions
How long do zirconia crowns last?
10–15 years or more with good care. Regular check-ups and flossing prevent decay at the margins.
Zirconia or porcelain?
Zirconia contains no metal, so it is more aesthetic and does not darken at the gum margin; it is especially preferred for front teeth. Both work well for back teeth.
Is a lot of tooth removed for a crown?
About 1–1.5 mm of tooth is removed for zirconia. The vitality of the tooth is mostly preserved.
