General and appointments

How can I book an appointment?

You can call 0212 931 99 32 or 0530 391 99 32, or message us on WhatsApp. Requests received outside working hours are answered on the next working day.

Where is your clinic?

We are in Kayaşehir, Başakşehir, at Seyranşehir Site, D3 Block, No 15C, on Kayaşehir Boulevard. It is within walking distance of the Kayaşehir Merkez metro station.

Which languages do you offer service in?

Turkish, English and Arabic. Our website is also available in three languages.

What are the payment options?

We accept cash and credit cards; for longer treatments, instalment options are shared at the check-up. We also help you find out whether your private health insurance covers dental care.

How often should I see the dentist?

Even if you have no complaints, a check-up and cleaning every 6 months is recommended. Decay caught early is solved with a small filling, whereas decay found late needs a root canal or extraction.

Bleeding gums and tartar

Why do gums bleed, and is it dangerous?

The most common cause is gum inflammation (gingivitis) brought on by plaque and tartar. In the early stage it clears up in 1–2 weeks with a cleaning and good brushing. If neglected, it progresses to bone loss and tooth loss (periodontitis).

Should I stop brushing if my gums bleed?

No, quite the opposite. Cleaning the bleeding area more carefully with a soft brush and using floss reduces the inflammation. If the bleeding does not stop within 2 weeks, see a dentist.

Does teeth cleaning wear down the teeth?

No. Ultrasonic cleaning only removes the tartar and does not harm the enamel. The spaces you feel between your teeth afterwards are simply where the tartar used to be.

How often should tartar be cleaned?

Every 6 months for most people; every 3–4 months if you have a history of gum disease, smoke or have diabetes.

What causes bad breath?

Most often tartar, gum inflammation, cavities and the bacterial coating on the tongue. Cleaning and tongue brushing largely resolve it. If it persists, stomach or sinus causes are investigated.

Does gum recession grow back?

Receded gums do not grow back on their own, but the progression can be stopped and, in suitable cases, they can be covered with a gum graft.

Fillings

How long do white fillings last?

On average 7–10 years with regular care. The size and position of the filling and any clenching habit affect its lifespan.

White or black (amalgam) fillings?

Composite white fillings are aesthetic, bond to the tooth to strengthen it and require less tooth material to be removed. They are the preferred option today.

Is sensitivity after a filling normal?

Sensitivity to hot and cold can last from a few days to a few weeks. If it hurts when you bite, the filling may be high; a quick adjustment solves it.

Does getting a filling hurt?

For deep cavities, local anaesthesia is given and the procedure is painless. For shallow cavities, anaesthesia may not even be needed.

Can I have a filling during pregnancy?

Yes, it is done safely, especially in the second trimester. Leaving a painful, infected tooth untreated is riskier for both mother and baby.

Should my old filling be replaced?

If there is decay, a fracture or leakage at its edge, yes. A sound, non-leaking filling does not have to be replaced just because of its colour.

Implants

Is dental implant treatment painful?

No. It is done under local anaesthesia and you feel no pain during the procedure. There may be mild tenderness for 1–2 days afterwards.

How long does an implant take?

Placement takes 20–40 minutes. You then wait 2–3 months for bonding with the bone, after which the permanent tooth is fitted. In suitable cases a temporary tooth can be made on the same day.

Can I have an implant if my bone is insufficient?

In most cases, yes. The bone volume can be increased with bone grafting or sinus lifting. It is assessed with an X-ray at the check-up.

How long does an implant last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, it can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need renewing after 10–15 years.

Who cannot have implants?

Risk is assessed in people with uncontrolled diabetes, young people whose bone growth is not complete (under 18), those taking strong osteoporosis medication and heavy smokers; in most cases implants can still be done once suitable conditions are met.

Implant or bridge?

An implant does not require cutting down neighbouring teeth and preserves the bone; it is more economical in the long term. If the neighbouring teeth already need crowns, a bridge is also a good option.

Root canal treatment and toothache

Why is root canal treatment necessary?

When decay or trauma reaches the nerve of the tooth, infection begins; if this tissue is not cleaned out, an abscess and bone loss develop. Root canal treatment saves the tooth from extraction.

How many visits does root canal treatment take?

Most teeth are completed in a single visit (45–90 minutes). If there is an abscess, 2–3 visits may be needed.

Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?

For back teeth, yes; a tooth that has had a root canal is more fragile. For front teeth, a filling is often enough.

How does a tooth abscess form?

It forms when bacteria collect at the root tip or in the gum as a result of untreated deep decay or gum disease. It can cause swelling, throbbing pain and fever, and needs urgent treatment.

What does toothache at night mean?

Throbbing pain that gets worse when you lie down usually means the nerve is inflamed and root canal treatment is needed. A painkiller is only a temporary solution; see a dentist as soon as possible.

Does a tooth with a root canal last a lifetime?

Yes, when properly restored and looked after; many root-filled teeth are used for decades.

Tooth extraction and wisdom teeth

What is an impacted tooth, and does it need to be removed?

A tooth that has not been able to erupt within the jaw is called impacted; wisdom teeth are the most common. If it causes pain, decay in the neighbouring tooth, a cyst or an orthodontic problem it is removed; a tooth that causes no problem can be monitored.

Can't I just take antibiotics instead of having the tooth pulled?

Antibiotics suppress the infection temporarily; if the source is not treated, the abscess comes back. Antibiotics are given to support treatment when they are needed.

What should I watch out for after an extraction?

Bite on the gauze for 30–45 minutes, do not spit or rinse on the first day, and do not smoke or use a straw. Apply a cold pack to the outside to reduce swelling.

How long does pain last after an extraction?

1–2 days after a simple extraction and 3–5 days after impacted tooth surgery. Pain that gets worse after day 3 may be a sign of dry socket (alveolitis); contact the clinic.

Children's teeth

At what age should I first take my child to the dentist?

When the first baby tooth appears, and by age 1 at the latest. Meeting the dentist early prevents both decay and fear of the dentist.

Should decay in baby teeth be treated?

Yes. A decayed baby tooth causes pain and abscesses and can damage the permanent tooth beneath it; losing it early causes crowding.

What is baby bottle decay?

It is decay that develops rapidly in the front teeth of babies who have milk or juice in a bottle at night. It is prevented by giving only water at night and wiping the teeth.

Is fluoride treatment safe for children?

Yes. Professional fluoride varnish is a safe and effective way of preventing decay, recommended worldwide.

What is a fissure sealant?

It is a protective coating applied to the deep grooves of the molars; it greatly reduces the risk of decay. It is applied when the 6-year and 12-year molars erupt.

My child's teeth are crowded, when should we see an orthodontist?

A first orthodontic check-up is recommended at around age 7. Guiding jaw growth early can reduce the need for braces later.

Aesthetics, whitening and orthodontics

Does teeth whitening damage the teeth?

When carried out under a dentist's supervision it does not harm the enamel. Temporary sensitivity passes within 1–2 days. The effect lasts 1–3 years.

Veneers or zirconia?

If there is no major loss of tooth structure, veneers need less preparation and look more natural. Zirconia is preferred for teeth with large fillings or root canal treatment.

Clear aligners or braces?

Clear aligners are invisible and comfortable and are ideal for mild to moderate cases. For serious bite problems, fixed brackets give stronger results.

Is there an age limit for orthodontics?

No. It can be done at any age as long as your teeth and gums are healthy.

What can be done for teeth clenching (bruxism)?

A night guard protects the teeth from wear; where needed, jaw muscle relaxing treatments and bite adjustment are carried out.

Should I see a dentist for jaw joint pain?

Yes. Clicking, pain or locking in the jaw joint can come from clenching, a bite problem or missing teeth; the cause is determined by an examination.
